Kazakh dombra players won the Music Box International Contest

Dombrists Temirlan Olzhabay and Yernat Nauryz won in the Music Box International Contest held in Spain in the nomination "Instrumental Music".

Music Box is an international online competition for instrumental performers from all over the world. The participants tried their luck in two stages. In the first stage, the Kazakhs performed the work of Niccolo Paganini "Caprice No. 24" in the author's adaptation, which amazed the jury members.

In the second stage, the “dombrists” performed the soundtrack of the "Game of Thrones" series and filmed a competitive video clip. Art lovers from 36 countries participated in this nomination. Kazakhstanis, who gained leadership, received the highest score.

As a prize, the musicians received a ticket to an offline festival in Spain, which is planned for May this year, and the opportunity to receive individual professional lessons from well-known experts at the expense of the organizers.

The duo was founded in 2017. Members of the group Temirlan Olzhabay and Yernat Nauryz met while studying at the Kazakh National University of Art and became reliable partners on the path of art. They gained particular popularity after a joint performance with Dimash Kudaibergen at the I'm a Singer contest. Minister of Culture and Sports Aktoty Rayymkulova has chosen dombrists as ambassadors of Kazakh culture at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

This is not the first victory in the treasury of performers. Before that, they won the Bridge TV “Best Instrumental Duet” nomination, took first place in the Golden Time Talent international festival, and took part in the Costa Brava Music festival in Spain.
