The film "Mergen" won two awards at once

The world premiere of the film happened at the Fantasia international film festival in Montreal (Canada), which took place this summer. At the end of October, the film won the "Best Thriller" prize at the Shenzhen International Film Festival, the press service of "Kazakhfilm" reports.

The short film "Mergen" won two awards at once at the Golden Wheat Awards festival held in Turkey. The movie won in two nominations - "Best Director" (Raiymbek Alzhanov) and "Best Cinematographer" (Sardar Baymoldin), the press service of "Kazakhfilm" reports.

 

 

  The action of the picture takes place in the 17th century, when a war was going on in the vastness of the Great Steppe. The plot of the film tells about a boy named Mergen, who, despite his young age, took up arms to protect his family, abandoned by his native village.

  The film was shot by the Kazakhfilm film studio named after Sh.Aimanov with the assistance of NJSC "State Center for Support of National Cinema", by the order of Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan

  The film "Mergen", as well as other short films created by the movie studio "Kazakhfilm" with the assistance of the State Center for Public Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, can be watched in Almaty from 23rd  to 26th  November 2021 at the Arman cinema. The films will also be screened in Nur-Sultan from 7th to 10th December.

  The schedule of screenings will be announced additionally on the social networks of the film studio.
